Field Notes: An Opportunity for Frontline, Direct Care Workers
Youth workers serve as direct critical linkages to youth in crisis. They conduct outreach, intakes, provide support in shelters and residential programs, support out of school time activities, and more. Voices from the youth and family services field provide relevant and essential information as resources, trainings, and capacity building activities are created. This networking opportunity will focus on trends and the support needed for youth care workers to succeed in their jobs and to see their efforts as pivotal to a growing group of professionals committed to optimal development and safety for all youth.

This networking opportunity will support clinicians in focusing on their personal and professional needs through support from others who also face balancing heart with policy and practice.

This networking opportunity will support overnight and weekend workers in discussing the unique challenges of the role, thinking about changes that may best support their efforts, and sharing what works and what doesn’t when responding to the needs of youth and families.

NSPN invites Safe Place coordinators and staff to participate in a monthly Safe Place coordinator chat call. This call begins with a specific topic and transitions into a general discussion about needs, challenges, and idea sharing. To be successful in efforts to connect youth in crisis to safety, Safe Place Coordinators and programs are asked to create annual goals to guide program activities. Join the NSPN team and other coordinators to discuss your 2024 program goals and to ensure these goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
